Close the App and Run it Again

The first thing we will suggest you do is closing the app and run it again. Especially, if the problem is caused by runtime error then restarting the app should be able to solve the issue. At first, exit the application by pressing the back button. Then open the recent app section by clicking the appropriate button.

Now close all the recent applications from the list. You will need to slide the app interface on upward to close the apps in the recent Android versions. Now begin the app that was producing the problem.

Reboot the Device

The next thing you should try is rebooting/ restarting the phones. A simple reboot can solve a variety of issues including app freezing, slow device, app error, etc.  When you reboot the device, all running apps are get closed and the memory of the device is being purged. As a result, the apps restart from scratch and works correctly.

Restarting an android device is pretty easy. Simply press the power button for a while and you should get the restart and shut down option. Click restart and the phone will turn off for a few minutes and turn on automatically.

Clear App Data and Cache

The cache is the stored data by the app which helps it execute the tasks faster. However, the cache can act oppositely when becomes immense. Apart from slowing down the app, the data can also cause auto stops. The same thing goes for the app data which includes login information, settings, and all the related data specific to the app.

You can easily clean the app data and cache data of the app by long-pressing on it. Then clean the cache data first and reopen the app. If the issue is solved then you don’t require cleaning the app data. However, if you still encounter the issue, then try cleaning the app data following the same way.

Check the SD Card

Do you store the android application of your PC on the inserted SD card? If so then you should also give a check to it. If the SD card is corrupted, then it cannot read the app files which will lead you to auto stops. Try removing the SD card from the device and check the app. If it is okay now, then the SD card is causing the issue.

You may require formatting the SD card if it is corrupted. However, make sure to backup your data on a PC device before doing so. If it still shows the error, maybe it is time to change the SD card.

Update the Application

Sometimes the app may encounter the issue due to problematic instructions inside the app. In such situations, you should try updating the program to the latest version. Typically, the app developers bring the update to solve issues like this. Simply go to the play store, search the app name, and click on update.

Try Previous Versions of the App

If you are encountering the “unfortunately app has stopped” problem after updating the app, then you should try uninstalling the update. Updating the app usually solves a lot of problems but it can also do the opposite sometimes. It happens when the updates of the app are not compatible with your device.

You can try installing an earlier release of the program to get rid of the issue. How can you do this? Well, at first, know the current version of the app (it should be like this: App Name x.x.x). You should find the version information in Play Store. Then search “App Name x.xx version APK” on google and install it on your phone.

Finally…Hard Reset your Phone

After trying all the steps above, if the app is still showing the error, then may you should stop using the app. However, if you are encountering the error on multiple applications, then the problem must be in your device. In such situations, the only way to solve the problem is a hard reset, which will erase all data from the device.

If you are thinking about making it happen, make sure to backup your data on your PC. Then turn off your phone and press the power button and volume up button together. Within a few seconds, you should be moved to the boot menu. There you will find the reset option.

You can also do it from settings.

 Conclusion

The unfortunate app stops on the android device is a common issue. However, the error can be easily solved by utilizing the above tricks. They work efficiently 90% of the time.
